nicolette is a wickedly odd tune – equal parts hillbilly, space age and soul. the name was taken directly from a main street in minneapolis, minnesota. the real inspiration comes from a overly-madeup girl who tried to win me over one night. she was a great dancer – no doubt – but i didn’t roll like that anymore. she was just burning calories! the song was first featured on the oyster & champagne record in 1999 and again in the short film B in 2004.

nicolette
dizzy izzy
slide over to me
so i can have a look and see
are you truly free?
something between your ears
and not your tears
is certainly clear
ain’t no one around to interfere
so whatcha think i’m gonna do
climb over on top of you?
just because you want me to?
baby i can’t live in a room without views
hear me, nicolette
stop kissing when i sway
listen what i say
cause this ain’t how i play
if i could pause today
to paint your sky all gray
would you then fall away?
dizzy izzy
somewhere up in the trees
if you think you’re gonna sleep with me
you’re getting mental with me
cause something between your thighs
and not my eyes
may sympathize
you can’t undress me with your sighs
so whatcha think i’m gonna do?
take this cab to 20th, boo
and ask you up to my room?
maybe back in 1992.
hear me, nicolette
stop kissing when i sway
listen what i say
cause this ain’t how i play
if i could pause today
to paint your sky all gray
would you then fall away?
excuse me…
