Buster Brown and the Get Down – I Know Nothing (Live)

i know nothing (live) is another one of buster brown and the get down’s songs that i knew i wanted to record from the first time i heard it performed. post production and editing on the live rhythm tracks was a blast. i mean, where is there a more charming song written by a man? you gotta love the woody woodpecker solo guitar bits by lead man dennis licari – which take the song to an entirely different level! the song reminds me of early will smith (aka the fresh prince) or kwame. old school hip hop has had a huge influence on buster’s music. there’s also a bit of james brown in the lead guitar line of this track. look for the 9davine shout out in the beginning of the first verse – “i’ve got the potion and it’s / kinda potent / number 9davine / got me out of my mind…”
